I’m sad because yesterday was Labor Day, which marked the unofficial end of summer.  Although technically we have a few weeks until the “official” change of season.  Waking up to pouring rain this morning isn’t exactly helping either.

I spent the day in downtown Boston, lounging and walking around the waterfront area.  This is one of my favorite places in the entire city for so many reasons:

Lunch by the water at Joe’s American Bar & Grill:

Roasted Chicken & Wild Greens Salad with feta (obv), walnuts, apples, tomatoes, dried cranberries and cranberry-walnut vinaigrette on the side

Hanging out in the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park:

Lots of pretty flowers in the Rose Garden:

A fun water fountain:

Dessert at Emack & Bolio’s!

Oreo Frozen Yogurt - YUM!

Strolling up & down Lewis Wharf / Seaport:

Lounging by the boats:

And the perfect setting for much needed long talks.

I’m going to sum up this post with four things to kick start your Tuesday-that-probably-feels-like-Monday.  2 questions of the day and 2 quotes:

Question of the Day #1:  Where is your favorite outdoor spot in Boston?

Question of the Day #2:  Which picture from this post is your favorite?

Quote #1:

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must NOT be defeated.  In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, and how you can still come out of it.”  -Maya Angelou

Quote #2:

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”  -Elizabeth Gilbert

Hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day / Unofficial End of Summer!
